Cosmetic Acupuncture

What is it?

How does it work?

Cosmetic Acupuncture (also called Facial Rejuvenation) is great for the prevention and treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, while also lifting and rejuvenating that healthy glow back to your skin.

Fine needles are inserted into acupuncture points throughout the body and face that help balance any systemic concerns, as well as targeted areas within the face.

Think crows feet, laugh lines and elevens - those vertical lines that appear between your brows. You can also help treat acne, rosacea and hyperpigmentation. Microtrauma is created with the insertion of the acupuncture needles. The healing response of the body helps to repair this with collagen, which is directed by the insertion and removal of the needles.

Stimulating collagen helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while elastin helps to give shape and structure to the skin. Repeated treatment will result in a stronger and stronger network and reserve of collagen.

Following the needling portion, you will receive a combination of modalities that include facial massage, Gua Sha and cupping to help support the benefits of treatment.

For best results, you want to come in for 8-10 sessions. Clients start to see results between 3-4 sessions with longer term results around 6. Really building up that collagen reserve in sessions 8-10. Weekly sessions are recommended in order to build a solid base to work from. Follow up treatment can be scheduled every couple of months (or seasonally) following a completed series.

Cosmetic Acupuncture requires a full TCM intake, to give a better understanding of what is happening systemically (Digestion, Sleep, Stress) and help treat those symptoms too with body points. Overall this treatment can be very relaxing and grounding!
